Hurt Leg, Parted Hair, Numerous Latinos, And Spiritual Highs
¡Hola desde Ciudad de México! El clima aqui es loco y bonita, pero me encanta. La lluvia aqui me está preparando para Seattle.
That was some brief Spanish to give you an idea of how I'm doing with the language. I feel confident in it, and I love to learn. I cannot believe that it's my third week! One left in the MTC.
My subject is wild because this week has been all over the place.
I played kickball for gym time on Thursday. During this one play, an elder was darting toward first base and I was determined to get him out. Unfortunately, I slid my leg under his back and he landed on it, bending it the wrong way. It didn't break, but it bruised pretty bad and I got a golf cart to the enfermeria. I got a wheelchair and only used it for the day. My leg has healed, but still feels a little sore. I can walk on it, which is great.
Each of the four Elders (including me) have distinct hair, and for whatever reason, we all wanted to try parting our hair. It was hilarious! We looked ridiculous, and the Hermanas laughed at us. We plan on getting our MTC cuts soon, though. Not to worry.
My companion and I have been doing a terrific job this week at talking to Latinos. Our district goal has been to talk to a few Latinos per day, and one day of seven. Each day, we talked to 3 or 4 on average, and it has helped our confidence in the language. We set a new record for our district with 13 Latinos in one day! We love it. However, doing SYL is a struggle. We love our native English, but us missionaries need to speak Spanish as much as we can.
As for spiritual highs, an elder in my district gave our teacher a priesthood blessing during class. It was super special and it filled the room. I felt his faith as he got emotional and testified of priesthood power. Our whole class appreciated it and wrote in our journals.
Additionally, I got to go to the Mexico City Temple today!! It was a beautiful experience. It's the biggest temple outside the U.S., and the visitors center is amazing too.
I am grateful for the manifestations of the Holy Ghost and of Jesus Christ in my life each day I am here in the Mexico CCM. I am not alone, so I can do anything the Lord asks. There's a new missionary program being instituted called "Ire y Hare...Porque Sé". This translates to "I will go and do...because I know". It is meant to increase deep study of PMG and the scriptures, and it is truly amazing. I look forward to my last week! I challenge you all to acknowledge God an extra time in your day! Why? Because He loves you! Adios!!
