Bellevue Crazy

Image
This email won't be long either, sorry.  Our friend Raydel came to church, meaning that he talked to his boss to get time off! He is committing to the Lord, which we're so happy about. David, another friend, is doing well. We felt inspired to invite him to baptism, in which he politely declined. He wants to feel ready and let us know when he wants it. We respect that about him, and we're gonna continue to help him progress. This week was pretty slow and hard, so I'm looking forward to a new one. General Conference is coming up, so that'll be awesome!  That's all. Until next time! Elder Jones https://photos.app.goo.gl/GRgzmQ5eRNbLbWAC7

Warming Up

Well, it has been another week.  Elder Snell and I had the privilege of going to the temple, so that was a good day. I enjoy the love and spirit I feel there. The crazy part is that it is a three minute drive!! It's the closest I've ever lived to a temple that I've attended. Right now, the branch (small ward) of Hispanics that I'm serving in is doing well! There are two companionships assigned to it, so there are four of us. The other two Elders, Elders Larsen and Farnsworth, plan to have two baptisms this Saturday! We're thrilled to be helping with that. Their names are Pedro and Anna, and they are so friendly and happy.  Elder Snell and I had another lesson with David, in which he clarified that he wants to learn a little more about the early church. We taught it briefly and asked if that answered his question. He said yes, so now that he's been taught everything he can, we want him to seek his testimony on his own. We read Moroni 10: 3-5 with him, in which we...

Spanish And English

Image
Hi everyone! I'm keeping my email brief today. It's interesting being a Spanish missionary in the states because I get so many opportunities to speak both English and Spanish. Most of the missionaries I serve with are English speaking, so it's a total mix. I love getting to translate for people though. This week, we had 5 people at church! It was great! I talked with 4 of them, and they enjoyed what they heard and felt. Work usually interferes with their Sunday schedules, so we're gonna work on that with these friends. We taught the Plan of Salvation to our friend David, who is one of the people who came to church. He has come every week that I've been here! David's really quiet, but so friendly. He lives with two church members, so we taught him the Plan of Salvation with one of them. This helped us with sharing personal testimony of Christ in the Plan. We asked him if he'd be willing to commit to promises such as baptism, and he said he wants to learn more...

Week 2 In Bellevue

Image
Hola todo. Como estamos? Another week as a missionary! Sometimes I take it for granted. I had zone conference this week! This one was amazing because from now on, we do these conferences with half the mission! It's a LOT of missionaries! I learned a lot and took away some powerful things from our mission president and some of our missionary leaders. I went on an exchange (swap companions with a different group of elders for 24 hours) with a trio of elders, so that was fun! They cover a unit of young single adults, so we got to do some finding on Bellevue College campus! During this exchange, we experienced rain and hail! The weather tends to be crazy whenever it wants to be. On Friday, I went to a fancy burger place with one of our members. I was told that each missionary that is new to Bellevue has to eat the XXX Burger--a massive burger of 4 beef patties, a massive bun, lots of pickles, plenty of lettuce, fry sauce, and fries on the side. Additionally, I got a massive mug of root...
