Slow And Steady Wins The Race

Not that my mission is a race, but the childhood story of the tortoise and the hare has been noted this week. I really felt like I had to take things slow and steady this past week since things got hard. I testify, however, that enduring challenges with patience will still allow the Spirit to work in our lives.

It's been a crazy week! We had zone conference, which was awesome. Always good to receive revelation from my mission president and be with so many other missionaries.

Our Spanish branch had a huge Fiesta with food, music, and dances on Friday. It was a HUGE turnout. We're talking 200+ people!! Which means a lot of friends showed up and it was a great missionary opportunity. The point of the Fiesta was that many South American countries were being represented as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. It was great, although I was REALLY anxious to understand everyone's Spanish.

It's been hard this week because I messed up a few times with Spanish, and I was embarrassed. Not gonna lie. But I have to practice. I REALLY like teaching English classes though. It's amazing to see people try a new language and it allows me to practice Spanish. This week's English class was so good since 8 people showed up! It was the most we've had in one class.

As for our two people who were on date for baptism, they are no longer on date. Nothing bad happened, but they are unsure and busy. We're gonna talk with them and find a solid date they can be baptized. They have been ready this whole time, but just a couple minor things got in the way. We're praying things can work out.

We had a service project on Saturday, and we got to put in fences for a member. My companion wants to do construction for his career, so he loves this kind of thing. As always, we were fed some killer food after.

One of the people we're teaching, named Eduardo, is awesome. We met with him and talked about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He has numerous questions, and eventually invites him to be baptized. He said he needs to study and prepare, but is open to it. We are hopeful about him!

To sum it up, there are always amazing things that make the difficulties worth it. We just have to look for them and give credit to Heavenly Father.

Love you all!
