I Love Spanish And Member Meals

Buenas tardes! Cómo están haciendo con sus metas para el Año Nuevo? Espero que sus repuestas son "Superbien!" Enero es casi terminado ya! No puedo creerlo.

Anyways, I hope you all understood that Spanish or put it into Google Translate. Speaking a second language is one of my favorite parts of being a missionary right now.

We had 3 members feed us this week, and one of them was in a Salvadoran restaurant! The food is always incredible. These are great opportunities because we get to talk to our members individually and get to know them better.

Saturday was a tougher day because two important lessons got canceled. They were gonna be our Portuguese friends and the new Honduran ones. We communicated with them and are securing lessons with them this Saturday. Please pray that they will make time for the Lord and hear our happy message. Life's abrupt changes are real, so I was initially sad yet understanding. Things don't always go exactly according to plan, but that's okay.

Sunday was extraordinary though! We had three new converts and three friends at church! We were excited with these attendances and let each of these people know how happy we were to see them. They were Juan Pablo, Julieta, Julian, Diego, Israel, and Jose from English class. So cool! We had a combined class with youth and adults after the sacrament meeting, and we had a presentation about BYU Pathway Worldwide. This program was presented by an older missionary couple, and it helps Spanish speakers (from foreign countries) learn English and pursue schooling all online. Our Bishop was translating everything into Spanish for us, and it was great! When he brought up English Connect, I got to stand up and explain that we currently teach free English classes associated with this program. I was surprised at how fast I was speaking this second language, and the ward understood me! How do I know this? A few members came up to us after and said they'd be interested in learning with us!! So cool.

Julian, one of our newest members (16), received the priesthood yesterday! Elder Miller and I got to help with this. We are now one big step closer to getting him and his mom Julieta to the temple. When I mentioned a guy named Diego earlier, that is Julian's 19 year old brother who we recently met. He is starting to read the Book of Mormon and sit in on lessons as we visit him, Julian, and Julieta. He is cool; I mean, he works at Chick-Fil-A! We are excited to teach him more and more, and I think he could get baptized in the near future.

Renton gets greater every week! That's all I have to say.
