Teaching With You

Elder Jones,

Yesterday was one of the highlights of my life--to be able to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, with my ordained son, to real seekers of truth.  What an awesome experience that was for me!

The neatest part for me was seeing and hearing you lead out in the discussion, as a representative of Jesus Christ.

You led with power.  Your "confidence waxed strong in the presence of God" (D&C 121:45).  I've never seen you so confident before in your life.  You weren't a follower; you led.

I marveled as I heard you lead that family from once principle to the next.  You weaved in Elder Miller at the appropriate times.  You two worked great together as a team.

You communicated fluently in Spanish.  You understood when Luiz spoke.

You asked good questions.  You engaged him and her.

Most importantly, you bore down in "pure testimony" (Alma 4:19) throughout and at the end.  You reminded me, thru your example, that the most important part of any lesson is the testimony you leave at the end of the message.  People may not agree with the teachings, but they cannot argue your testimony.

Thank you for feeling inspired to invite me to help.  You hit the nail on the head in your "miracle" video afterward to your mission: inviting members to help missionaries teach non-members is an effective way to help the lesson.  Teach that principle to your district.  I challenge you to have members present with at least 50% of your lessons with non-members.  Your conversion rate will skyrocket!

I love you and am so proud of you, son.
