My Mission Went to a Seattle Mariners' Baseball Game?!

Hola todos! Cómo estamos?? Espero que la respuesta es "excelente".

What a week! I had an exchange with some other missionaries, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I always learn something new! On this exchange, I helped do some service for an elderly man. We moved a ton of junk from his backyard and smooth out his stone path. The photos show it all. He was such a grateful man, and we were so happy to help! Later that day, we played chair soccer with the youth from their ward and my Spanish branch. It was a lot of fun! I even won a round! As soon as we got done with our second round, we had a lesson with a Vietnamese friend. Her name is Loan, and she currently has a baptismal date! Her English is hard to understand, but she speaks fluent Vietnamese. We happen to know a member who speaks both languages fluently, and she was able to translate and help with the lesson over zoom. The Holy Ghost was definitely present as we testified of the Restoration of our church. Loan commented about how she has a great relationship with God through prayer, and that she trusts in Jesus! It was so neat! In my weekly photos, I have two audio recordings of the Vietnamese and English that were spoken during all of this.

I have now experienced Arabic, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, a teeny bit of Ukrainian, and English! I love the variety.

While on the exchange, Elder Snell led out our area. That night, he invited our good friend Imeldo to baptism. He has been interested in it for a while! He wouldn't commit to a date, so we're not quite there yet. He has come to church for such a long time, so we know his time is coming soon. Please pray that we can help him see baptism as a necessary next step.

One of our new members moved to a new apartment that happened to be in the same complex, so we got to help with that. He is so kind and great to be around!

As you read in the email title, my mission of 200 or so missionaries went to a baseball game for the Seattle Mariners! It was on Friday, and it was called "LDS Family Night." What's neat is that a general authority in our church over the Pacific Northwest--Mark Bragg--threw the first pitch to our mission president, Ray Henderson!! Our Church had a known presence there that night. It was a lot of fun, but it honestly felt so weird. Why? Because I'm so used to serving others and not entertaining myself. This kind of thing will happen once a year in our mission most likely. If you're curious, the Houston Astros were the opponent, and they beat the Mariners 6-4. Fun fact: the game was outside our mission boundaries, so we could see the Space Needle! I got photos with it.

We did some more service, which I enjoyed once again!

We had a soccer night again, and six friends came! Four were new, so we're excited to have met them. Such a great time each week.

Today was fun! Our mission president loves to golf, so he takes his two assistants (called AP's) there with him. These assistants only wanted to do 9 holes, so our president asked us if we wanted to do the other 9 with him. We accepted! My companion, Elder Snell, absolutely LOVES golf, and he's really good at it. I don't necessarily enjoy it, but I played with them anyway. I was really bad, but I had a good time. There's so much to this sport!

We haven't had a lesson with Raydel in a month! We're so sad about this. Please pray that we can have a solid lesson with him tomorrow finally and that he'll be ready to have consistent lessons weekly once again.

That's about it for now.

Happy late May the 4th be with you and Cinco de Mayo!!

Elder Jones
