1 Year And Miracles!
This week was one of miracles!
Last week, I wrote about how we were deciding to stop visiting and teaching Raydel. Well, if you watch one of the videos in the weekly album, you'll see that things have turned around!!! We went to Rayel's apartment on Tuesday; if he wasn't home, we would have moved on and stopped meeting with him. It had been 8 weeks of no contact or teaching! However, HE AND HIS TWO ROOMMATES WERE HOME!! This was the most last-minute revival/turnaround ever! We entered their apartment and got caught up to speed on how they each were doing. We read Alma 40 about the spirit world and also a few articles of faith. Adrian and Raydel sat and listened, and we discussed some great things, such as family! Russell, a second roommate, was preparing some bomb tacos for us. The only bummer about this was that he wasn't listening to everything we were teaching, which is OK. We want him to read and learn with us though, too. Those tacos he made were really good! Raydel helped with the meat too. The photo with the tacos is Raydel. All three are so nice to us! Adrian really opened up and was talkative when we discussed parts of our faith. We were so hyped up about this that we made a miracle video about it!
Also, we had dinner with Imeldo at his home. This normally doesn't sound too exciting, but it was really important. Each time we've met with him, we talk about our hopeful message, but we haven't taken much time to get to know him and be his real friends. This time, on Friday, we ate dinner, socialized, and got to know him better! We talked about languages, dogs, where we're from, and other things. We laughed and had a great time! This helps establish more trust with Imeldo. He let us know he'd be okay to have a lesson on Wednesday with us, so we're happy to be getting somewhere with him.
We've received some more service opportunities! One of them includes talking with some interested Latinos while doing temple grounds service. We look forward to this! We helped a member move on Saturday, so that was fun.
We went to the temple on Thursday, and it was uplifting--once again. The House of the Lord (a.k.a. the temple) is consistent in bringing me the Spirit and peace. That's the great thing about it. Purity and power from on high come from attending.
We are teaching a few young couples, and they are amazing! What's even better is that we have recently received several new young couples that are members. When our nonmembers come to church, these members talk and sit with them! It works out wonderfully. They have been a huge help, and we want to use their help in establishing relationships and incorporating this gospel by way of love.
Tomorrow is my one year! I began training on June 13th, 2022, and now it's the same but 2023!! Crazy how time has gone by. I am grateful to Heavenly Father for changing me and helping me to grow so much. I am humbled and happy to be closer to the Savior at this time in my life.
What a wonderful week. I wish you all a Happy Father's Day. In advance, I have to say that my father is incredible and I am indebted to him for what he does to love and serve me. I've been raised SO well, not to brag.
Adios!
