Off To Auburn To Train Again!!
Woo hoo! What a week! We finished this transfer strong, but my predictions for changes were way different than I thought.
I really thought my companion would stay in Enumclaw and I'd leave. However, we both left! We only got 6 weeks in the spectacular zone of Enumclaw; I'm sad to leave it. I am whitewashing into Auburn, and it's pretty cool so far!
I am training once again! It's already bringing back memories of when I trained Elder Miller in December. My trainee's name is Elder Townsend, and he's great! He's so willing to try new things and get out of his comfort zone. I like him a lot already! We're excited to make progress in Auburn.
During my last week in Enumclaw, we met with Sergio and played pool and basketball. He is so funny and has a desire to continue attending church, which is awesome! I definitely teared up when I had to say bye to him. We bonded with him a lot over these several weeks as we've testified of the miracles Christ creates in our lives.
We also attended the temple with our newest member, Ever! We did baptisms and confirmations with him, and several members joined us! What an amazing memory!
On my last day in Enumclaw, we went to Ruben and Miriam and saw them both in their open garage doing a garage sale! We talked to Ruben for 30 minutes and answered his questions about missionary rules. We talked about how great Enumclaw is and that we're sad to leave. We shared a quick scripture in 2 Nephi 25:26 and gave Ruben a BoM copy since he said he didn't have one. Then we left since their garage sale started attracting like 5 people. What a spirit-led visit! I'm anxious to know where things go with Miriam and him and the Hermanas!
THEN, 22 minutes later, we had a rough go of things. We were intending to visit Lorenzo, who's an inactive member. We saw some Latino dudes blowing and doing landscaping in this complex, so we said, "Hola, como están?" They were friendly and said, "Bien bien!" We were approaching building D, and a guy with a blower yells at us, "Hey, you! I am your prophet! The Lamanite King!" He then proceeded to swear at us several times!! As he said these words, he had anger in his eyes and eyebrows. We backed off with our hands up, but he walked toward us. We weren't going to mess with someone who hated us and drove the Spirit away so quickly. Since he obviously had facial resemblance to the Rojas' and had heard of the Lamanites, we knew this was Lorenzo.
We turned around and were silent all the way to the car. The landscape guys were calling the management of the complex and videoing this craziness. As I went to back Elder Brown, we saw a well-dressed man and woman walk toward these Latino guys and discuss the whole thing. I wanted to stay and see what happened to Lorenzo, but we knew that wasn't our place and that he'd get restless if he saw us still. We drove away and knew that we'd avoid him from here on out.
I am staying faithful as I get familiar with a new area all over again. It is so worth it though!
Les amo muchísimo, y ¡espero que ustedes puedan sentir la presencia de Cristo en su semana!
