Halloween, Transfers, And Policework!

Well, it's definitely been a crazy time. I apologize for not sending an email last week. A lot has happened.

I am working on being more brief with my emails since time is precious. I hope you can understand.

Halloween was fun! We weren't allowed to proselytize from 6-9 pm since everyone was trick-or-treating, but all the elders in Auburn came to our apartment for dinner, hanging out, and tabbing Books of Mormon. It was a great time. It's neat that we can stay productive as missionaries in anything. I dressed up as Winnie the Pooh, by the way! The costume came from a thrift store and was size XS, so it was tight. It was funny and worth it though.

We are focusing more on visiting our active and inactive members lately, and it's been a wonderful experience. We feel closer to our members now that we eat and talk together.

Thursday night was the most chaotic time of the transfer (6-week period). We were headed to a lesson but took a detour when we helped out a police officer with a rough car accident! The guy at fault was walking away, and we tracked him down. We retrieved his address and phone number just in time for when the police came. The man, Antonio Perez, was walking away from the accident like it was no big deal. We talked to him, and he walked us all the way to his house, which was only a 1/3 mile from the accident. It was all so crazy. The police drove to Antonio's house and brought him back. We confirmed to the officer that it was the correct man. We also filled out witness statements, so that was neat. As missionaries, and even as members of the church, we are subject to "obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law" (Articles of Faith 1:12). We had the privilege of upholding the law as citizens of the U.S. and representatives of the Lord. It was quite the memory.

As for the new transfer, I am staying in Auburn for another 6 weeks. I'm stoked. I was called to serve as a district leader, which means I am in charge of a few sets of missionaries in Auburn. It is a unique opportunity to serve. I am also TRAINING A THIRD TIME. I was legitimately surprised when I found this out because I just finished training Elder Townsend. Elder Townsend will stay with me to train our new missionary, so we are in a trio. Our new missionary has an original assignment of Arequipa, Peru, however. We are going to do so much good together while we're here.

José came to church! We are happy about this.

That's about it for now.

Elder Jones
